The Home Invasion

If you don’t know Shea Serrano, he’s an author for The Ringer. He writes about hip hop and pop culture and sports and some other stuff. I’m a big fan. He occassionally sends out “secret emails” (and then tweets about them 400 times) with stories about family or life or basketball. They all have oddly deep and introspective messages in them.

I’ve purchased from him a few times, but used different email addresses, so I get two identical emails for all his posts now. I noticed a 30 minute delay between the two in a post he sent out today.

I read it both times and then one more time1, and then went back through the last few emails and found similar time differences between those. And so obviously I plotted the 19 emails and their times:

There was a spike on September 8, 2021. No clue what that’s about.

  1. I don’t think it’s possible to see today’s post anymore, but basically he attacked a tree on accident because he was anxious and it was dark outside. ↩︎
